The first thing that became apparent at the Veronique Leroy spring-summer 2015 show on Saturday, was that the Palais de Tokyo, the central hub of fashion events this season, had a sound system fit to fill the hall with the inspired frenzy of Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet”.
The soundtrack provided a dramatic counterpoint to the suddenly outclassed bourgeoise of the season. It was a bit like Baz Luhrman revamping The Great Gatsby for the youth of today. Think an excuse to rework some Twenties dresses for a modern day audience, but with sports material. A tight palette of beige, black and blues featured in most of the collection, given variations through tweedy textures and sporty cuts.
