Review Collection

As the mantra goes, the darker the times the wilder the fashions. Sibling’s signature irreverent streak is made even sweeter this Spring/Summer 15 by way of Madonna’s “Holiday,” calling all to rejoice and celebrate. The collection served the 80’s optimism of New York City through the lenses of photographers Amy Arbus and Maripol, who famously profiled the Queen of Pop in her heydays.

80’s bricolage of padded shoulders, scandalous see-through crochets and barely there cropped jackets made it down the runway complete with oversized Madonna bow headbands. The spirit of dress and undress, in bed and out-of-bed that resonates deeply in Maripol’s work was keenly felt in the collection. Madge’s legendary “Like A Virgin” wedding dress was heavily referenced in the centre pieces of the collection. Full-length hand crochet raffia dresses with macramé details mirrored the larger-than-life oversized punk knits in the menswear show in June.
