Riffing on the “Americana details meet Japanese silhouettes” that worked so well for Resort, the MM6 team thought a lot about mixing cultures this season. Kimono closures on dresses and jackets ruled, paired with traditional tied-up Japanese sandals with exaggerated platforms. (There were obi belts, too.) Americana came in cowboy form, with suede fringe jackets and over-washed denim. Cuffed wide-leg jeans were worn with a red rubber bandana top, and a long skirt was paired with a fringed leather vest. There was a great denim shirtdress, too, cut like a trapeze with a raw-edge bottom, and a pair of fringed suede jodhpurs. (The denim, which usually plays some sort of role in the collection, was prominent—and quite strong—for Spring.)
