The sounds of classic Beatles tunes like “Sun King”, “Because” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”, from the band’s Abbey Road album, blended seamlessly with the roar of crashing waves on the Damir Doma soundtrack on Wednesday. It, along with the artistic lighting sculpture that looked as if pieces of driftwood had captured the warm summer sun, impressively created a collective nostalgic memory. Recollections of days gone by spent walking on the beach and basking in the glow of a sun-kissed afternoon flitted through the mind.
This evocative set up made the perfect accompaniment for Doma’s collection of gracefully easy pieces. The oceanic elements could be seen in the wavy navy jacquard pieces, the sandy shades of a suede jacket embellished with fabric covered grommet openings spinning forth strips of ribbon, and some crackly black pleated skirts or tunic tops that hinted at dried out seaweed.
