For spring, the Azrias—Max and wife, Lubov—dove into the archives “to pull out pieces relevant to today,” Lubov said backstage at Lincoln Center this morning. Reworkings of the label’s genetic code: riffs on men’s shirting in the way of loose, tailored dresses in blue and white, sometimes gathered at the waist; asymmetry (e.g. folds on one side of a skirt, or just a flash of print coming around the front of a look); and florals, which always exude a specific kind of femininity (after all, as Max said before the show, his goal always is “to make women feel pretty”).
